Supermoon, November 13, 2016 Emotions running high

 supermoon-th

Emotions are running very high this weekend as we are approaching “the supermoon.” Although the full moon is not until Monday morning at 8:52am ET, I think we have all been feeling the build up over the past couple of days. So what is a supermoon exactly, and what does it mean? How does it affect us?

The full moon of November 14th is not only the biggest, closest, and brightest supermoon of this year, it’s the closest supermoon since January 26, 1948. It is certainly a sight to behold and something that you will not want to miss. It will be the biggest, brightest and closest to us in North America this evening. The power of a supermoon affects us deeply on a cellular level. We know that the moon affects the tides and when there is a full moon the tides are much higher. There is a gravitational pull.   According to H.H. Mitchell in The Journal of Biological Chemistry 158, “the brain and heart are composed of 73% water, and the lungs are about 83% water. The skin contains 64% water, muscles and kidneys are 79%, and even the bones are watery: 31%.” Is it any wonder we are so emotionally responsive and affected by the lunar cycle as it pulls on us?

When it’s a full moon, and especially a supermoon, it can really be an emotional battle. So if you’ve been feeling out of sorts, stressed, tearful or anxious, you’re not alone. And if you were born with your sun or moon in Taurus or Scorpio you are probably very tuned in to this lunar cycle. The good news is that we should all be feeling better next week after the moon subsides.

This is a great time for doing introspective work, meditating and reflecting. Remember to breathe, relax and enjoy your space.
