On December 21st Venus, the planet that rules love , money and our values, will station retrograde. Unlike Mercury who stations retrograde three times a year for 21 days, Venus goes retrograde every eighteen months and lasts for approximately six weeks. For those of you who are new to astrology and are unfamiliar with this term, when a planet is retrograde it means that it is moving in an apparent backward motion and is not operating in its normal capacity. Therefore the areas that it rules are affected in a delayed or reverse manner.
The areas that are affected by this retrograde cycle are love and money, your values and spending habits. A word to the wise, do not spend large sums of money on any luxury items. You will find that after Venus goes direct you will not wear, want, or use them. So if you do happen to break down and make a large extravagant purchase by all means save the receipt. This would be an auspicious time to shop at flea markets, thrift stores and garage sales. You’ll find some great values.
Love affairs that are started during this retrograde cycle can be very stormy unless Venus is getting ready to go direct. This would be around January 31st. It would be best to avoid planning a wedding or getting married during this time. You will want to steer clear of the dating websites while Venus is in retrograde motion. Solid standing relationships can go through a re-evaluation during this cycle. Also, this is a time when a love from the past can come back into your life. For example, you could run into an old beau at a class reunion or at the airport.
You will want to avoid cosmetic surgery during this cycle as you may not be satisfied with the results. Also try to avoid any type of beautification process like perms, hair cut or color, especially if you are going to a new and different beautician.
Venus and the stock market – Since Venus is connected to the financial world, I would suspect the stock market will change directions around the time that Venus changes directions. You might want to keep an eye on that if you are inclined to follow the market.
Your thoughts and comments are always welcome.
